"...
Barangkali di sana
ada jawabnya
Mengapa di tanahku terjadi bencana
Mungkin Tuhan mulai bosan
Melihat tingkah kita
Yang selalu salah dan bangga
dengan dosa-dosa
Atau alam mulai enggan
Bersahabat dengan kita
Coba kita bertanya pada
Rumput yang bergoyang"

Several natural disasters have occurred in Indonesia in only one month. Flood in Wasior, forest fire with its smoke in north-western part of Sumatra, extreme weather in almost all part of Indonesia, flood in Jakarta and most recently earthquake + tsunami in Mentawai as well as volcano eruption of mount Merapi in Sleman. These disasters have taken hundreds of lives and injured thousands of people. Not to mention thousands more to evacuate. We might wonder why these unwanted events needed to happen in this country.
It is true that nature is beautiful, nevertheless it is also true that nature is powerful. Powerful in a good way, and powerful in the worst possible way. Then why we cannot prevent the worst situation and gain the good way? I know that it is God's will, but are we sure that we do not have any contribution that triggers these disasters?
People are skillful, people are knowledgeable and people are resourceful. But have we dedicated all (or at least) most of our skill, knowledge and resource the way that God intends to? We are all resourceful, but yet we are sinful.
We might not be able to turn back time and prevent all those disasters. However, it is never to late to help and support our friends and family who became the victims of these disasters. Even one prayer is worth a universe for them. Therefore, let's pray for Indonesia and the world.
Finally, see yourself in a mirror and ask yourself 'what have I done in my life?' and 'why have I done that?'.
true! and absolutely agree!
