It's just minutes away before my project group proposal which by the way will be my one man show presentation. I did several presentations this session in my Uni (University of Wollongong). One of them was
a real experience for me because it was my first academic presentation in the lecture with approximately 70 audiences.
The topic was about IT governance. It was an interesting topic because the strategic alignment between IT and business objectives has become a challenge in today's working environment. It was 25 minutes presentation plus 5 minutes questions. I was shocked that I did not feel so nervous. I am proud of my self 'till today because of this achievement.
As I mentioned before, I'm minutes away for my last presentation at Uni. It will be in a smaller classroom (approx. 25 people). Anyhow..., I do feel nervous today. I admit that lack of practice can be one driver of this nerve syndrome. But I do find another reason. Maybe it's related to the aim of the presentation. Previously, it was an explanatory presentation. Now, it is a persuasive presentation (the presentation is about an IT-related business proposal for a new company).
As sum, I got to say... "To explain is just a tip of the iceberg, but to convince is the giant chunk of ice that you need to overhaul!"
